AKIMMA (Artfully Krafted in Mix Martial Arts)

AKIMMA was envisioned and developed by Roxy Buu, who has over twelve years of fashion industry experience, including eight years as proprietor of a San Francisco fashion lifestyle boutique in trendy Hayes Valley. During her MMA (mix martial arts) training, Roxy became inspired to develop a MMA clothing collection which would provide a more stylish and sleek yet functional activewear silhouette for hardcore mix martial arts training, like kickboxing, boxing, jiu-jitsu, grappling and extreme sports.

The AKIMMA logo is the betta fish, also known as the “fighter” fish. The betta fish symbolizes the individual and tenacious spirit among fighters. They are bold in form and richly colorful in personality. They move with graceful precision and lethal efficiency. AKIMMA wearers seek out the best in quality, aesthetics and design that is distinct from other brands. They want activewear that can double as streetwear that is as tough, smart, and strong as they are.

Mission

MMA has grown exponentially in recent years. Professional male fighters now have the opportunity to excel and sustain themselves as full-time career fighters. However, that opportunity is not as readily available to female fighters yet, due to lack of support and exposure in the public realm. We are passionate about increasing these opportunities for women, enabling them to dedicate themselves fully as professional MMA fighters. Our goal is to craft, evolve, and lead the apparel market for MMA merging the platform for women and men. AKIMMA is activewear not only for training, it is a lifestyle that seamlessly transcends into streetwear.
